About Kerry M.
I am an Urban Planning student interested in ensuring communities have sustainable and resilient water resources in the face of climate change. From interning at an environmental peacebuilding organization in Amman, assisting those affected by flooding as a FEMA Corps member, and now supporting local sustainable water solutions in Colorado, I have seen the power water holds over everyone's lives. It is both a source of tension, destruction, and insecurity and also collaboration, growth, and empowerment. Through my career I hope to allow communities to experience the latter qualities by finding solutions to their water planning challenges. For this reason, I am currently studying Urban Planning with a focus in Environmental Planning and studied Global Water Security as my undergraduate degree. I designed this degree by combining chemistry and environmental studies courses with political science and international relations courses to give me an understanding of both the technical and political nuances of water issues. My current degree builds upon this expertise, so I have the necessary skills to foster collaborative and community-driven participation in sustainable water management.
