• Team leadership• Establishing national and international partnerships to provide opportunities for joint project development to Portuguese companies and academic institutions; institutional representation • Monitoring of the National Innovation System and evaluation of results and impacts of Research & Innovation funding programmes and initiatives• Currently leading a European 16-Innovation Agencies task force, with the collaboration of NESTA Global Innovation Foundation, for mapping innovation support services across Europe and outlining the set of competences of Innovation Agencies in the future• Support to decision on Research & Innovation policy design, including the design of national and European funding programmes for fostering collaborative R&D and Innovation activities• Support to network development involving Higher Education Institutions, companies (specially SMEs), investors and government authorities, including to foster the development of regional innovation ecosystems.

Assisting the Government in the international cooperation domain of Science & Technology (S&T) policies:• Managing bilateral contacts and dialogues at political and strategic levels;• Designing agreements and joint programmes with international players for promoting S&T cooperation - particularly within Europe, Africa (incl. Portuguese speaking countries - Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde), Asia (China, East Timor) and Brazil;• Policy integration and stakeholders coordination for intersectorial strategy design;• Evidence-based advising, speech writing and participation in official meetings and State journeys for supporting Government intervention in international debates on S&T and Innovation policies - e.g. within the European Union (EU), the European Space Agency (ESA), the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), the 5+5 Mediterranean Dialogue, UNESCO, OECD, the International Agency for Atomic Energy, among others.• National Focal Point for fostering the cooperation within the CPLP in S&T, Higher Education and Advanced Training matters.

• Country representative (as Expert) at the management committee for the European Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) - Information and Communication Technologies Policy Support• Management of R&D projects funded by the EU – Future Internet domain• Promotion, support and monitoring record of the participation of Portuguese academic, research and industrial entities in European R&D, Innovation and Competitiveness funding programmes in the Information and Communication Technologies domain• Follow and advise the political dialogue on the Africa-EU Strategic Partnership on Science, Information Society and Space.
