As the research liaison to the psychology department and the BrainHub initiative at the Carnegie Mellon University Libraries I collaborate with faculty and students to support the research and teaching at the university. I am embedded in the department where I bring together my experience as a psychologist and as a data curation specialist in the library. I am particularly involved in working with faculty and students on research data management from grant writing to establishing lab protocols to sharing data publicly in a repository. I am an advocate for open science and am particularly involved with promoting the open source tools developed for more open science within psychology and neuroscience. I hold a faculty position in the University Libraries as well as a courtesy appointment in psychology and am an affiliated faculty member with the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition. My own research program continues to span human cognition and perception as well as studying the open science practices and university support of research data management. Clir Postdoctoral Fellow For Data Curation In The Sciences
Center for Library and Information Resources (CLIR) postdoctoral fellow for data curation in the sciences and social sciences. In the University Libraries at Carnegie Mellon I worked on university-wide initiatives to provide services and infrastructure for research data management and open science to faculty and students. The CLIR fellowship program is a unique program that places disciplinary PhD's into academic research libraries - it is in it's 11th year and there are now over 100 former fellows working in academia and beyond. The fellowship gave me the opportunity to learn about about the rapidly evolving work in digital scholarship and modern academic libraries, while also bringing my experience as a researcher into the library to influence projects and approaches. I also focused on open science initiatives in psychology and neuroscience including making data publicly available and sharing code, analysis tools, and stimuli as open source research products.
Phd Student In Psychology
Working in the lab of Dr. Isabel Gauthier I conducted research on high-level vision including object recognition, categorization, learning and ability, and perceptual expertise using psychophysics techniques and functional MRI.
