I led a programme of work to develop simulation capability within Supply Chain. I had to build a team of simulation engineers that helped develop statistical models that represent and act as a virtual twin of Tesco's supply chain. These statistical models allowed us to balance conflicting KPIs across the whole supply chain moving away from individual silos. I worked with the wider supply chain and distribution teams to shape how simulation could also be used as a tool to improve the day-to-day decision making by understanding the true cost of each decision.

I got the opportunity to lead a key collaboration between Tesco's Supply Chain, Visual Merchandising and the Store Operating Model teams to review how much shelf space is allocated to each product. I helped create a project team from across the three departments and lead the delivery of the project from start to finish.This project helped improve the on-shelf availability for customers while hugely simplifying the replenishment process in stores. This project was recognised as one of the many changes that helped to turnaround the Tesco business. The benefits of this project were also communicated to the investors and suppliers during the full year results.

This role gave me my first experience of building and leading a team of software developers. As part of this role, I also worked with the Indian office to start a new team of web developers that eventually took over the support and development from the UK team.
