Background:For as long as I can remember I have loved maps. Since my days coloring in blank maps and labeling them for school, I have drawn hundreds of maps of my own design, from realistic representations of places I have explored to abstract and artistic renderings of places I have only been in dreams. Slowly but surely, I became the "map guy," formally known by the alias, "the artist-cartographer." It began with my creation and promotion of a large scale map of my hometown of Anacortes, Washington. Since then my professional career as a Cartographer has taken off with commissions from local businesses, authors, navigators, and fellow map-lovers. Most recently I have been getting involved with event organization and putting my map skills to the test. I would love to hear your ideas and collaborate with you on a project you have in mind. Methods:I confer with clients, editors, writers, art directors, and other interested parties regarding the nature and content of artwork to be produced.I work by submitting preliminary and finished artwork/project plans to clients for approval, incorporating changes as necessary. I hope to collaborate with writers who can use my artwork to illustrate their work. I work with individuals or groups on personal and professional projects.
