In my case, the pain site, which started with my left hand, is telling my brain my hand is being stabbed and is on fire. My hand even stays dark red, sweats, and stays swollen. It is chronically very painful. What started in my left hand has also gone up to my left shoulder and spread to my right hand and shoulder. There is no drug to treat this disease and no cure. Doctors can just try to make you as comfortable as they can with painkillers. For me, it's an electric stimulator implant and lots of morphine. This dulls the pain a little but it never goes away.
