Hi!I’m Lead Web Developer at Orbit Media Studios with a specialty in WordPress and WooCommerce. I’ve been building websites since I was 12 years old, but for the last 15 years professionally.In those years, I have worked with clients like Cabot Cheese, Gold Eagle, Modern Daily Knitting, and Clarke. I love working on these large and complex projects, which include everything from E-Commerce with subscriptions, product directories, and complex shipping rules to large communities of users discussing the latest knitting pattern.My daily tasks at Orbit have me crossing an array of different programming languages, from backend languages like PHP and mySQL, to front end languages with jQuery, Bootstrap, SCSS and HTML. This work is all backed up with Git using the command line or Jenkins.Orbit maintains AA accessibility on all projects, leaving me familiar with tools like Lighthouse, WAVE, Accessibility Insights, and Site Improve. Page Speed, Analytics and Schema are also important to all of our projects.One of my favorite responsibilities at Orbit is to manage the WordPress team on our monthly developer days. This includes reviewing the issues created by the Orbit team, assigning them to the developers, and reviewing their code. I review all work after I merge it in Bitbucket with our QA & Content Entry team to ensure that no bugs have slipped through the process. These Development Days allow us to enhance not just Orbit’s standards & features but also keep in touch with the WordPress community.In my free time when not reading or playing video games, I own & moderate a Discord writing community for a MMORPG of over 3000 users, and maintain the Discord.js bot that aids in moderating the community. It’s a favorite of mine to tinker with new code standards, and it allows me to focus on the Node.js and TypeScript languages.

  Key Responsibilities:● Complete all tasks on time and on budget, communicating clearly and often with the project team and manager if and when work extends, or the goal needs to be adjusted● Develop websites using the Wordpress CMS and support other CMSs as needed, including Mightysite and Drupal. Maintain and document code using Bitbucket and Git.● Complete all checklists and follow Orbit’s best practice to ensure work is of the highest quality and ensuring the checklists and best practices are regularly reviewed and updated as needed● Provide oversight and leadership of the Custom Wordpress Sandbox, ensuring there are clear goals and plans for Dev Days to enhance and fix recurring bugs in the Sandbox. Providerecommendations and gather feedback from the heads of the Delivery Team (design, development, and project management) to ensure alignment.● Act as a Wordpress subject matter expert. Continually research the latest in Wordpress standards and technology. Regularly share new things in the weekly Dev Meetings, regularly review and ensure the development team is aware of, and is following Orbit and WordPress’sbest practices. ● Support the Sales Team as a technical representative in client meetings. Provide quotes as needing ensuring clearly documented approaches and scope.● Create and implement new processes and procedures as needed by management. Document objectives, comparison of approaches, clear implementation plans, and help guide the new processes to successful launches along with measurement of the new processes to ensure theyare being followed.● Assist Orbit’s Support Team as needed, providing guidance, completing tickets, and clearly communicating with clients to successful outcomes for the client and Orbit. Communicate withthe Support Team to ensure tickets are completed and billed appropriately in a timely manner.● Log time daily to ensure the team is aware of budget and status.
