Though I began at Grifols Biomat as a phlebotomist, my managers recognized my potential and offered a promotion in the quality department within two weeks of my training. Given my attention to detail from editing, the transition into a quality assurance role was fluid. I brought a fresh perspective from outside the medical world and quickly became accustomed to upholding FDA and EMA standards. Before I worked long on the quality team, my senior coworkers were asking for my advice on difficult projects, and the employees who had once trained me as a phlebotomist became part of the group I managed in order to minimize the center's error rate.
