Responsible to ensure that all Legislation, Municipal By-laws, Policies, Practices, Protocols and guidelines are being adhered to in order to ensure that By-law enforcement is fair and consistent to all of the Township residents. Responsible to oversee all Township of Uxbridge legal matters in the Ontario Court of Justice. Responsible to recognize and recommend to Clerk when further legal intervention is required to gain compliance such as applications to Superior Court for injunctions. Responsible to review and research Provincial Legislation and ensure that all By-laws are current and up to date. Responsible to draft new By-laws and generate reports in order to implement them through Committees and Council. Responsible to prepare and manage Department budget. Answer and respond to calls and inquires from the public other Township Departments, other law enforcement agencies and Council by supplying answers to Municipal By-laws and procedures or directing them to another source for answers. Investigate all complaints by utilizing the appropriate legislation, ensuring jurisdiction and utilizing all investigation techniques utilized by Department. Initiate a property to be cleaned up by utilizing all approved procedures and protocols. Initiate legal action to enforce standards when compliance is not voluntary or when a deterrent or penalty is necessary. Attend and give sworn evidence at required committee hearings. Review permit and licence applications to ensure compliance with applicable by-laws and ensuring that they are complete and accurate.
