About Andrea A.
Hi! My name is Andrea Augustine. I am a Doctor of Medicine candidate on the Primary Care Leadership Track at Duke University School of Medicine. I was born in India and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where I graduated from Eagle’s Landing High School as the Class of 2017’s valedictorian. I spent five years living and learning in Houston, Texas, where I attended Rice University (BA in Neuroscience with a minor in Biochemistry and Cell Biology ’21) and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health (MPH in Epidemiology with a certificate in Global Health ’22). Some highlights of my academic career to date include serving as an Albert Schweitzer Fellow to holistically empower refugee and immigrant groups in Houston; being the lead author of a published review article on impulse control disorders in Parkinson’s disease; and founding the Rice Neuroscience Society’s NeuroCamp to provide socioeconomically disadvantaged high school students an opportunity to explore their budding interest in neuroscience without any financial burden.I am passionate about integrated primary care, equity in healthcare, and community engagement, especially for and with underserved and marginalized populations. As such, I am committed to working towards a career at the intersection of medicine, global public health, service, and leadership.
