Carrying out research in the field of railway transport, covering a wide variety of topics. Working closely with the project manager, as both technical contributor and work-package/task leader, to ensure the successful delivery of the projects’ outputs and the communication and dissemination of results. Drafting and ensuring proper review and timely submission of deliverables.Topics include: - Assessing the business model of Automatic Train Operation (ATO) in mainline railways (GOA2 to GOA4) considering the effects on costs, capacity utilisation, and operational flexibility.- Analysing the potential of carbon reduction and energy-efficiency improvements from new hybrid forms of traction such as hydrogen and batteries and examining the existing policy measures at the national and EU levels to encourage the development and deployment of these technologies.- Evaluating the current and future competitive position of the EU rolling stock manufacturing industry compared to its global rivals through the assessment of relevant KPI from the supply (value chain) and demand sides (H2020 project).- Providing punctual support in projects related to railway smart grids and energy management in railways (projects in the framework of Shift2Rail JU and other national projects).

Developing models for the analysis of transport policy (e.g. congestion charges, public transport pricing) and energy policy applied to the transport sector (e.g. carbon taxes). Assessing the welfare effects of these measures and their interaction with other markets (e.g. the labor market). Conducting research in transport economics with full technical responsibility to complete my Ph.D. in Economics at KU Leuven. Communicating scientific findings in internal meetings and international conferences. Modelling the national energy sector to assess a set of policies to promote renewable electricity generation. Assessing the economic and environmental impact of these instruments and their regulatory viability within the regulatory framework of the electricity market.
