My role focused on developing and implementing a strategic marketing plan to increase visibility among MSE programs nationwide, which helped the department increase its ranking into the Top 10 for MSE programs nationwide . Other notable accomplishments:+ Rebranded its social media platforms, and increased following across platforms by 15 percent in the first 6 months; + Created a new visual identity for the department that was used for print and digital assets; + Planned first national alumni and stakeholders event within recent memory;+ Worked on the team that redeveloped the new website

The University of Florida is a top-ranked public university and is home to a top-10 journalism school. The College of Journalism and Communications emphasizes a combination of skills and history of journalism. I have taught three different course while at the University of Florida:Mass Media and You is an introduction to mass media for students in all four departments in the College of Journalism and Communications. It covers the history of mass communication and looks towards its digital future. This is a lecture-based course with around 90-100 students each semester. Visual Journalism is a combination lecture-lab class, where students learn visual theories and typography concepts and apply them through practical in-class tutorials as well as homework and projects. Students gain skills in three major areas - design, photography and videography as well as the basics of info graphics and iPad design. Students spend the semester learning and using Adobe's InDesign and Illustrator, Audacity, iMovie, Mag+ and Google Fusion Tables.Multimedia Writing is a core course in the College of Journalism and Communication for students in journalism, public relations and telecommunications and a pre-requisite for reporting. It is a combination lecture and lab course. I teach the lecture portion and coordinate the lab instructors for the 10-12 lab sections. Students learn the fundamentals of writing across communication fields, including how to structure a basic news story, conduct interviews, use AP style and edit their own work. Students focus on writing for different platforms, including social media and a blog.

Vox magazine is a weekly city magazine produced by the University of Missouri School of Journalism. It is published on Thursdays in the Columbia Missourian and is available as a free standalone publication on newsstands. The magazine covers arts and culture, entertainment and local trends in the Columbia area. During the course of two years, I designed covers, departments and features for the magazine. As the art director to an editorial staff of students, I designed pages based on working with students to help them think about packaging stories and presentation as they gain skills about thinking visually. As creative director, I approved all designs created by the advanced magazine design students and submitted to printer.

The University of Missouri's School of Journalism is the top-ranked journalism school in the United States, and its program emphasizes hands-on experience for its students through a combination of labs and learning at a publication housed on campus. As a teaching assistant, I spent two semesters teaching the basics of magazine design to students in a lab for two hours, which included learning skills, such as layout and design, typography, photo editing and illustrations on Adobe's InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. For one semester, I worked with the advanced magazine design students who design for the weekly city magazine, Vox. My position required me to help student develop design ideas, edit execution and give final approval to magazines.

Student Sustainability at the University of Missouri is devoted to empowering students to take action in the areas of energy conservation, recycling, local food projects, biking and eduction. It is under the Department of Student Life umbrella but works closely with the MU Sustainability Office. As the communications manager, I am responsible for the content, layout and redesign of the organization's biweekly newspaper. Each issue includes a local feature, a news article about a sustainability project on campus, a calendar and spotlights on other organizations and schools that are promoting sustainability. I also create videos and other content for the website and print publicity for residence halls and university buildings.
