Even in the short time that I have been a QC Lab Technician, I have gained numerous skills that I will take with me wherever that life takes me. I have been introduced to a wide variety of instruments from different methods of testing viscosity, physical testing, to working with the GC and HPLC. Learning is one of my main goals in life and I take any opportunity I can to better understand not only the science but also the importance of each test. I have been able to learn not just the basics of running each of the instruments but also in troubleshooting. I have also been able to make a difference in the workplace by helping implement practices to improve efficiency in providing results in a more timely manner. With the introduction of new projects, the opportunities to learn have been endless.

My responsibilities included answering and scheduling for a multi-specialty practice, calling patients for appointment confirmations as well as reminders for unscheduled treatments recommended by their doctors, resolving patient questions about their accounts or bills, called insurance for coverage breakdown and information about unpaid or denied claims, and ensuring that doctors/hygienists had a full schedule.

Started as a receptionist answering calls and scheduling appointments. Moved to the billing department where I was responsible for sending dental claims, entering payments from insurance into patient accounts, resolved denied dental claims, and resolved patient questions about their accounts. While holding these responsibilities, was also responsible for the front office staff, updating office information on the office website as well as on demand force.com, and the credentialing of new and current doctors for a multitude of dental insurances.

As a billing specialist, I was responsible for resolving denied claims, ensured that claims were filed and paid in a timely manner with the insurance, and helped patients with questions they may have had in regards to their accounts or a statement they received from their insurance. Another aspect of my duties were to negotiate fees with insurance for the office, which consisted of general dentists and specialists. As a credentialing specialist I was responsible for the credentialing of new doctors that joined the practice, as well as updating credentials for all current doctors.
