I am currently a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying in the School of Human Ecology with a major in Interior Architecture, as well as certificates in Dance and Architecture. Upon graduation, I plan to take the NCIDQ exam to become a certified interior designer and work in a professional design firm. I am uncertain at the moment if I would prefer to focus on commercial or residential design, although I think I am leaning more towards the residential design industry. I have always been a very organized, creative, and artistic person which are some of the reasons I am drawn to this career path. I also find a lot of joy in helping others and seeing my work have a positive impact on people, which are additional reasons why I believe interior design is right for me. Other things I am passionate about outside of design are dance, music, traveling, baking, and being with family and friends. I was a competitive dancer for most of my childhood and have continued my dance training in college with the UW Dance Department. I have also had experience choreographing various solo and group routines over the past couple of years and would love to keep exploring that aspect of performance further. In the near future, I would be interested in interning at a design firm to gain more real-life experience in the interior design field, before entering it myself. The classes I have taken so far have taught me a significant amount regarding creative programs such as Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and SketchUp. While my skills in these areas are constantly evolving, I believe that they, alongside my reliability, work ethic, and ambition, would help me be a great addition to any design firm. Ultimately though no matter what I do in the years to come, my biggest goal will always be to create authentically by expressing myself in ways which make me happy, so that I can have a meaningful impact on the people and places that surround me.
