As an aspiring leader fellow I was able to shadow a member of the executive staff for 6 weeks to learn the ins and outs of the district. I was assigned the North Star Reading Partners Program, and was charged with the job of collaboratively creating a curriculum as well as making contacts with district partners and schools.

At MeckEd, we believe that all students, regardless of neighborhood, zip code, income or circumstances deserve access to an excellent public education. Educating our children is everyone's responsibility.

• Connected with families before trainings to encourage participation, remind families about attendance and answer any questions. • Maintained communication with families during the training.• Provided coaching and mentoring to families about reading during AR trainings.• Attended AR train the trainer session (2 sessions) to develop understanding of the research foundation for AR, vocabulary, content, and delivery model• Received feedback on training delivery, reflect on and incorporate feedback into subsequent sessions • Conducted 4-week long AR training with families/children• Effectively delivered training to adults while maintaining interest and engagement with children• Adjusted content delivery, pacing, and communication based on the needs of the group• Distributed, collected and organized survey and feedback information from families each week to improve the quality of the training and assess behavior changes related to the training
