Self-motivated and hardworking individual who recently uprooted her life to find a new place to call home. To chase after that lifestyle that provides satisfaction in her passion for the outdoors, culture, health, food, travel, and music. Taking her camera along for the journey. Proven fast-learner with drive and passion in every assignment given. A joy for life even when it leads to a dead end, and always shows great team work! Up for a challenge and always open for new connections / relationships! The backstory :Starting my career in Chicago, I earned my BA in photography and then went on to live in Milwaukee, WI where I became a second shooter for Jessica Quist photography. Working with Jessica I learned how to work with different clientele. My skills strengthened in efficiency, being professional, reliable, working on a deadline, and adapting depending on my client or location. I owe those years of experience to prepping me for the publishing world.Moving to the greater Seattle area, 6yrs years ago opened my photography world up to the magazine life. I landed an internship at Seattle magazine for 6 months and then continued to work as a hired shooter for them, Seattle business, the events team and varies other companies in the area. I worked in the editorial world for a solid 4yrs while living in Seattle.I love to organize shoots and execute what is needed of me in a timely fashion. I am always looking for adventure and challenge. Will travel for work, possibly even re-locate! 2 yrs ago, I moved to Philly. I had some various clients in the food industry, product photography, and documenting spaces. I currently am working as a freelancer ( in various places remotely ) but would love to land a position with a wonderful company! I am open to new challenges and direction in my Photo career.

PhotographerShoott Sep 2019 - PresentSan Diego, CaliforniaWorking with this company I have the opportunity to meet many people and achieve their wishes in just 30min. Some days I could be shooting more than a dozen photoshoots back to back. It’s been equally challenging as rewarding! I love working with people and getting their personalities to shine through in the images I capture of them. -

Freelance PhotographerSpoonful Magazine Dec 2016 - Aug 2017Greater Philadelphia AreaThough my time working with Spoonful Magazine was short, it was filled with some amazing shoots with amazing people, like Judy Whiks. My focus was to set up shoots with cooks, style food, and photograph with print design in mind. I worked to meet quick turnarounds and meet the requirements of the format of the Magazine. Unfortunately my time was cut short due to the magazine needing to shut down. -
Contracted PhotographerSeattle Magazine 2013 - 2016Greater Seattle AreaI started at Seattle Magazine as an intern, where I handled multiple assignments at a time; photographed, edited, remained organized and was self sustaining, met deadlines, remained professional and worked on tight deadlines. My intern was 6 months long and worked with the support of the art director and the rest of the team. Throughout my time there I also assisted the Staff Photographer on day shoots and was an assets to the team. Following my internship I became a hired freelance photographer for Seattle Magazine and assigned big stories (10-20 page spreads )and had three cover story shoots with them during my time there. I worked at the magazine for nearly 4 years before moving to the east coast.

Freelance PhotographerOutdoor Project May 2014 - Oct 2014Greater Seattle Areahttp://www.outdoorproject.comFor the season of summer /fall I spent my days driving to beautiful country sides and finding trails or camp grounds to document for the outdoor project. This company is a wonderful database for those outdoor lovers. My job was to write mini reports on the trail conditions, proper gps directions, mark waypoints, and photograph along the way. It was just as challenging as it was satisfying! My main goal was to utilize my time, hit deadlines, keep the branding of the company and organize my trip reports and travel to hike. This was a 4 month contract in which my work remains on their website to help others who want to visit those trails that I previously documented. -
Assistant Photographer/ Second ShooterJessica Quist Photography May 2007 - 2012Milwaukee, WiI worked with Jessica Quist for nearly 5 years as her main assistant at her buisness. I was her second pair of eyes and ears. I always remained professional and helpful, as I was representing her name and wanted to do my best at every wedding we shot together. I learned and grew so much as a person and a lifestyle photographer during these years. Every wedding was unique and special.Last year I had asked Jessica to write me a letter of recommendation and here are the kind words she had shared with me: " It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Andrea Coan. Andrea has worked as a freelance photographer and post production artist at my business, Jessica Quist Photography since 2007. In the last five years of working side by side with Andrea, I have no complaints and can only applaud her. Andrea is a hard worker and is extremely passionate about perfecting the quality of her art. Her willingness to lend a hand, think fast and offer her expertise makes her a valuable team player and inspires those around her. Communication is a strength of Andrea 's as she is extremely considerate and respectful while being direct with others. Like the old saying goes, Andrea treats others as she wants to be treated. Andrea also has commendable character, not only is she extremely timely and dependable, she's loyal and sincere. In camera, composition comes naturally to Andrea. Her ability to see and record life's moments is uplifting for her audience. Andrea is excellent at lighting subjects and choosing locations to get the desired look and feel for a shot. Her photographic skills are well practiced and refined, which gives Andrea confidence to challenge herself technically and continue to invent rather than duplicate.Over the past five years, Andrea's beautiful photography has inspired me and brought joy to our clients lives. Not only is Andrea a past employee of mine, she's grown to be one of my most closest friends and colleagues. "
