Andrea was the first bilingual teacher elected as president to the Denver Classroom Teachers Association who was the first in public education unions to promote teacher quality west of the Mississippi. She was awarded the Colorado Education Association’s Petrocco Leadership Award for Outstanding Service in Women’s Rights.
