As acting executive director I oversaw strategic planning, built organizational partnerships, managed organizational finances, fiscal sponsorships and payroll, established a oversaw board relations, wrote and managed grants, developed operational standards, co-created curriculum, co-facilitated programming, and oversaw staff professional development. At the end of my term I focused my time on strategic partnerships, fundraising, and coaching young leaders into directorship roles to steward the organization long term as the director of strategy.

Co-led a team of 10+ cross-disciplinary content strategists, UX designers, software developers, and contractors to build a digital Equitable Community Engagement Toolkit. Co-managed a half a million dollar grant, supported hiring and onboarding staff, and oversaw the recruitment of over 160+ internal and external lived experience experts to inform Toolkit guidance. I’m most proud of advocating for and co-facilitating an internal cross-agency advisory board and external community advisory council for long-term sustainability and accountability.

The Service Design Studio is strategically positioned within the CAO to support its enterprise-wide work in enhancing the City’s public-facing services. As a team of design research practitioners and service design activists, the Service Design Studio takes “government of the people, for the people, and by the people” literally. We use participatory design processes to collaborate with policy-makers, City employees, and residents to make government service delivery more accessible, just, and human. As a founding team member, I co-led the development of project management and ethical design research standards with my colleagues.

Creative Resilience Collective envisions a world where self-determined healing and mental health care is abundant and easily accessible for people marginalized by design. We believe in the power of collective agency to create equitable futures of care. I initiated the organization in 2017, and re-established the organization with co-founders and co-organizers who produced educational workshops, study groups, collaborative publications, public art installations, youth programs, and design resources to shape the evolution of care towards liberation and joy. For funding and operational purposes I served as the executive director, building partnerships and co-managing over $300,000+ in grant dollars with our fiscal sponsors at Slought and Asian Arts Initiative.

Taught undergraduate courses on interface design for mobile, web, and public media. The course centered on mutual aid, community-led design, equitable, and inclusive design concepts for social good. Students learn how to apply human-centered design research, interaction design, and service design methods to develop and communicate research findings, strategic recommendations, design concepts, and testable prototypes.

Center For Digital Health

As design strategist and project manager, I supported the development of a chat bot to prevent toxicity progression and unplanned hospital visits for cancer patients undergoing concurrent chemo-radiation therapy. With data scientists, I co-created data visualizations and presentations to support data privacy, consent, and literacy campaigns. To support the center's growing portfolio, I contributed to a winning grant submission for a million dollar randomized controlled trial (RCT) to study how communication data could help patients and providers better align during therapeutic encounters. Across my 2+ years at the center, I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute to the development of a cross departmental $50,000 incubator program to improve care delivery, patient outcomes, and health equity.
