About Andreas Sotiropoulos
I am a physics graduate from the University of Ioannina, Greece, completed in 1996. From 1996 till 2004 I worked in the University of Ioannina in the Surface Science department. During my stay in the University of Ioannina , I was involved in research based on Cs and/or Se on Si(100)-2×1 surfaces (master thesis) and further research on Si.I have also worked in the University of Glasgow in the surface science department for one year, where my main object of research was thiophine on Cu(111) and hence I have gained great research experience. Since 2004 I have been working as a Research Physicist in the National Center for Scientific Research (NCSR) “Demokritos’’, Material Science Institute . In 2009 I completed my Ph.D in Science Matter Physics from the National Technical University of Athens in corporation with the Research center NCSR “Demokritos” (Material Science Institute) ,which has helped me in acquiring deep knowledge in physics. In NCSR “Demokritos” I also have been involved in the research based on the creation of MOS or MIS Capacitors using Silicon substrates and in general with the MBE growth of high-k materials on Silicon substrates (or Ge(100) and/or GaAs substrates). I was doing investigations of gratings and Back Surface Field (BSF) of Solar cells (p-Si base)I am familiar with some techniques and various equipments pertaining to the study and research of matter, such as: AES (Auger Electron Spectroscopy), LEED (Low Energy Electron Diffraction), WF (Work Function measurements), TDS (Therrmal Desorption Spectroscopy), XRD (X-ray Diffraction), XRR (X-Ray Reflectivity), RHEED (Reflection High Energy Electron Diffraction). My education and employment have laid a strong foundation for my excellence in physics, considering the fact that it has helped me acquire a great deal of knowledge in various sectors of physics such as MBE deposition, RF sputtering, electrical characterization and condensed matter physics in general.
