I hold a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Dusseldorf and have thirteen years of bioinformatics experience gathered in research institutes in Germany, Ireland and Singapore. Working at the intersection of technology, biology and computer science I developed highly cited algorithms that eventually became widely adopted in the field of genome sequence analysis. In my role as Bioinformatics core team lead at the Genome Institute of Singapore, I was responsible for developing scalable computational workflows for analyzing big data genomics on hybrid compute platforms.
