As Vice President of the Psychologische Kring Leuven vzw I co-led a group of 50 volunteers to ensure strong education representation in academic decision-making bodies, facilitation of student careers, and a variety of exciting extra-curricular activities for 2000 Psychology students studying at the KULeuven. Within the organization my responsibilities included macro-level decision making together with the rest of the board of directors, keeping check of the internal relations within our organization and the personal evolution of our volunteers, solving internal issues and organizing team-building activities and workshops, among many other responsibilities.What I have learned from this position:-How to transform great ideas and motivation into a mission and values that translate to quality output from the organization-To think about and implement changes in the structure of an organization to ensure efficiency and optimally engaged volunteers-How to give and receive important feedback and then use that information to improve myself as an organization member and as a person-How to keep a large variety of different responsibilities organized in my schedule and also keep my schedule flexible for new situations-The Covid-19 pandemic whilst being the Vice President of this organization forced us to be agile as an organization and I developed a more creative view on how the organization could ensure fulfillment of its functions in a digital environment

As a bookstore management volunteer for the Psychologische Kring Leuven vzw I was a member of a team of 7 volunteers consisting of 4 psychology students from the Psychologische Kring Leuven vzw and 3 educational sciences students from the Pedagogische Kring Leuven. Our task was to ensure academic books and handouts at student-friendly prices for the psychology and educational sciences students. Within the organization our task falls under the facilitation of the university careers of our students. It is a multi-faceted function in that it requires many different tasks to be performed to keep the bookstore running smoothly. This includes, among other facets, communicating with academic professionals to ensure the accuracy and quality of the materials, working together with a print-shop to ensure timely deliveries and quick service to our customers, keeping an accurate inventory of stock and thinking ahead to estimate approximate sales, frequent shifts in the bookstore itself to ensure a variety of opening hours for our students and using social media and our website to communicate effectively with our student population.What I learned within this function:-How to communicate and work within an organization's team-How to avoid and find solutions to conflicts within our team regarding different organizational cultures as our team consisted of members of different organizations-How to creatively and confidently find solutions to sudden issues during opening hours (card payment issues, system bugs, disparities between digital inventory and real-life stock) -How to plan shifts and tasks into my agenda accordingly
