Australian farming and fishing are vital to our economy, our heath, and culture in Australia. Unfortunately, farming and fishing can also be very dangerous, and at the same time they are so diverse, and unique compared to other industries, that solutions to improve health and safety elsewhere don't necessarily work the same. That's where research, development and extension (RD&E) comes in. Australia's largest farming and fishing sectors have a track record of investing in health and safety, but the stats aren't improving. The sector recognises the time has come for a new approach to more effective RD&E which will make a bigger impact on health and safety outcomes. The Rural Health and Safety Alliance is the new cross-sector collaboration which will lead this new direction to uncover the solutions which will make a real difference to health and safety, for a more sustainable and stronger workforce capacity in farming and fishing.
