Special Interests:1) Improving quality and efficiency in the delivery of unscheduled and emergency care 2) Introducing and implementing effective clinical governance mechanisms in Emergency Medicine3) Developing clinical leadership at all levels in the Emergency Setting4) Developing a culture of quality, opportunity for improvement and co-working.Andrew has worked as a consultant in emergency medicine across 3 healthcare systems (South Africa, UK and Australia) over the past 14 years. Much of this has been at times of significant clinical and financial pressure where dramatic change and innovation was required to maintain service delivery. Close collaboration with other Departments and providers involved in emergency care has led to a number of successful system changes that have improved patient care and efficiency. These include the introdution of senior led rapid assessment systems within ED, development of pathways for emergency surgery and orthopaedics to avoid admissiona and deliver planned outpatient emergency procedures, as well as the introduction of a novel pathway for the management of chest pain. He is dedicated to continuous improvement in the way in which care is delivered.
