Having left the Royal Navy after 22 years service at the rank of Chief Petty Officer ((Radio Supervisor) (NATO grade OR7)) in 2004, I have not let the grass grow under my feet. I moved with my Danish wife to Aalborg in Denmark upon leaving the service and started in the civilian job market for the first time. My first taste was as a machine operator in Royal Greenland frozen food company. This first step allowed me to stay in Denmark and gain a social security number, and other essential things for starting life in a new country. Within 14 months I had secured new employment at Hydrema, a Danish company producing dump trucks, back hoe loaders and other equipment. Starting within parts production as a CNC pipe bending machine operator, I moved to the military production facility and became a member of a small team constructing armoured fighting vehicles for the Danish army. Upon completion of this I was moved to a team responsible for rebuilding and upgrading land mine clearance vehicles that Hydrema had built for the Danish army. This has led me to the support department within Hydrema when the mine clearance vehicle was sold to the US military. I became project coordinator for this $160 million project. My responsibilities were for logistics and personnel support. International travel is part of the job, and I was present at a variety of project meetings both in the USA and at home. As this project has reached a natural conclusion I've moved internally to the technical support department. This affords me the opportunity to increase and improve my technical knowledge and have more customer interface. International customers need for training support for new machinery has seen more travel ranging to the far east and down under.More recently I've qualified as a Cummins engines instructor for Cummins engined Hydrema products, covering all current emission types.I still remain self driven, well motivated and with a Can Do attitude, I look forward to what tomorrow may bring, but am also looking to what I can bring to tomorrow.
