About Andrew Buglass
Andrew Buglass is a Principal Lecturer/Associate Head of School for Secondary and Further Education and Skills in the School of Education and Society at the University of Sunderland. As a writer, Andrew has had poetry published in various magazines. In 2018, one of his poems, “Spectrum” was adapted for music by the composer Hayley Jenkins and performed by the Delta Saxophone Quartet.Andrew has worked with Undergraduate Creative Writing Students to help hone their craft, and has worked with Sunderland’s Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (SUNCETT) and the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) in the production and facilitation of their annual Research Development Fellowship Programme. He is now employed as a Teacher Trainer, working with Students who want to teach Adults in the Further Education and Skills sector. Currently Andrew is studying for a PhD. His research looks at how representing experiences of educational practice through art can improve pedagogical reflection. He also has an interest in research relating to eLearning, Behaviour Management and Initial Teacher Training.

Research Assistant
My work as a Research Assistant was varied. I worked with the PGCE PCET team at the time to explore methods for improving the number of "Grade 1" or "Outstanding" student teachers. The "Outstanding Teacher" project was commented on by Ofsted during their 2015 inspection. The Ofsted report complimented the PGCE PCET programme for this research-informed approach to improving teaching, learning and assessment.

Academic Tutor - English With Creative Writing
I worked with Undergraduate Creative Writing Students to help them hone their craft. I focused on developing their ability as Playwrights, however I also worked with students quite closely to aid them in their prose and poetry. During this time I also taught Irish Drama to Undergraduate Students, focusing on the works of Yeats, Devlin, Friel, Carr, Behan and Beckett.
