At this stage in my career I am absolutely enjoying what I do. I've moved into the private sector and work with a competent team, a challenging multi-faceted project and undertake a variety of tasks requiring just as much thought and engagement as my previous roles. As a contractor working back inside government I may have lost many of the decision making capabilities I previously exercised, but my ability to help those making decisions now provides as much, sometimes more, satisfaction than before. I feel rewarded in being able to ensure my clients are receiving both the technical guidance they need as well as the process and management advice on how to best succeed in the complex bureaucratic framework through which they are required to deliver the essential ICT capabilities they require to be successful in their core business.

Working back into Defence managing the end user contribution to Phase 3 of a long running (10+years) multi faceted ICT Project. Very satisfying work as it combines project management, stakeholder management and coordination between three (occasionally five) discrete project offices involved in the infrastructure, program, support, end user and application delivery.Added to this is the bonus that the work is occurring in an area where I have had a technical and professional interest for most of my working life and lamented not being more involved when I was managing networks receiving capabilities delivered by previous phases.
Anzac Park West
Friday 13th March 2015. After a final social event at the Canberra Hyatt I bid farewell to all my loyal and hard working staff. Some are receiving redundancies and I wish them the best in their endeavours. Many have gone onto other development and test support roles in DMO, Immigration and Industry and I wish them the very best as well. I hope my Melbourne based staff find alternative employment as their task will be more difficult, especially if they wish to remain in Defence. On Monday I'll take a seat at Anzac Park West with those people waiting to identify a new role and will finish off the final personnel reports on all my staff. RIP TEA. Good luck and best wishes to the Lockheed Martin staff who take our services forward.UPDATE: Sep 15 - All my previous staff in Canberra now have work elsewhere in Government or in industry - I can relax a little. Still have some concerns with my old Melbourne staff have not all found new work.

TEA Branch is a new construct within ICT Delivery Division, CIOG. TEA was formed from the combination of the Directorate of Environment Management (DEM), The Directorate of Service Validation, Testing and Release Planning (DSVTRP), the Directorate of Application Transition and Planning (DATP) and the software integration and testing elements of Logistic Information Systems Branch (LOGIS) based in Melbourne. TEA is a diverse team of 52 staff, approximately 75% APS and 25% contractors spread across five locations in Canberra and Melbourne.Update: Organisational freezes resulted in DEM and DSVTRP being unable to amalgamate until being processed by the Organisational Review in very late 2015. As a result, the two directorates were renamed, worked in unison, but were never organisationally merged. DEM became DTEA, DSVTRP became DSVT under the pseudo TEA Branch within ICT Delivery Division.
