Lead team of engineers and coordinators do delivery high hazard risk reduction installation projects on a nuclear facility.

As construction engineer I am responsible for the link between the project, design teams and the contractors responsible for undertaking the works within a legacy building left over from the UK nuclear programme and is over 60 years old and contains medium to high level radioactive waste. Within the work I am responsible for we are delivering work that will aid the path to retrievals of the nuclear waste before the building can be fully decomissioned. This work includes extensive pipework replacements, building modifications, Liqour Level Management systems, ventilation systems and control rooms.With my role I am driven to use the developed gated process in delivering work which goes through from initial concept through to active comissioning. We are required to get involved with the processes soon as possible to provide construction support throughout the lifecycle of the project. Constructability reviews, risk reviews, HAZOP and HAZCON meetings, design reviews and workshops. We are responsible for approaching the contractor with works to tender and once a tender is accepted are required to obtain and approve working documentation from the contractors prior to installation. The role is challenging in terms of communication between an extensive team ensuring that all parties are satisfied with planned works to ensure no clashes between other work streams once on the building.

Worked on a number of different schemes and frameworks as site engineer including, flood alleviation, waste water treatment works, Highways, windfarm's and ground remediation with earthworks. Clients I have worked under include Denbighshire Council, Newcastle City Council, United Utilities, Highways agency and EON. At GallifordTry I gained a large amount of experience in different setting out methods and some of the latest equipment including GPS and robotic EDM's. I am skilled in the use of CAD, N4ce modelling package an excel.
