In March 2013 I was contracted out to Powerteam (subsidiary of NIE Networks), a company specialising in the building and maintenance of electrical substations and overhead power-lines as an on site safety officer, based all over ROI. I was responsible for auditing, accident/incident investigation, risk assessment, data management and managing site safety across a diverse range of work/site locations.

I was a Health and Safety Officer on site at Victoria Towers (multi-storey car-park) in Belfast and was responsible for:- Site Inductions- Review and implementation of risk assessments and method statements for the company and all sub-contractors on site- Accident/Dangerous Occurrence/Near Miss investigations- Delivering fortnightly toolbox talks- Weekly health & safety and environmental site audits- Preparation of Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans for other contract submissions- Implementing and updating emergency evacuation plans and supervising drills- First aid on site

I worked here as a site labourer with basic health and safety duties as a stop gap whilst I was unemployed. This gave me insight to attitudes to health and safety from the workforce that has to work under health and safety rules and regulations.
