Andrew DeAngelo began his career by participating in a pilot program as a intern and child care worker to professionalize the services at the Lehigh County Juvenile Detention Home. In 1978 he was hired as juvenile probation officer. In 1980 he was promoted to a supervisor’s position and in January of 1985 he was appointed Deputy Chief Probation Officer.During his tenure, he has been involved in the development of community and aftercare services and the implementation and supervision of the first school-based probation program in the United States. He has also assisted in the development of alcohol and drug awareness and mental health services .On a local,state and national basis he has participated and chaired numerous community and justice committees and has participated in research projects. He has presented at local, state, national and international functions and in 2004 he was elected by the membership of the American Correctional Association to their Delegate Assembly to represent juvenile post release supervision. He has authored numerous articles and served as editor for several justice publications and co produced a juvenile justice video.He Is the recipient of the PA Governors Highway Safety Award, Probation Supervisor of the Year Award and Middle Atlantic States Correctional Association Outstanding Service Award.He retired in 2007 and has been active in several other ventures that include:Community Justice Planner which entailed the development of community based partnerships to assist in the work of the juvenile and adult courts and Director of Program Planning for evidenced based services for adult and juvenile clients. In 2011- present he established himself as a Independent Contractor to provide Consulting ,Training and counseling services for youths. In 2013 he secured positions as a Adjunct Professor in the Administration of Justice for Penn State University and Lehigh Carbon Community College. In addition , he has provided counseling services in several middle and high schools in Northampton County PA. Currently he provides consultation services to community organizations and in June of 2019 he participated in the development of PSA Videos concerning alcohol ,drugs and social hosting which received a National Communications Award.
