Through my career, I was able to achieve levels of seniority in regard to other co-workers on my assigned patrol team, S.W.A.T. team, and investigative unit, which provided me the opportunities to aid and guide fellow officers in these units. This assisted me in achieving the position of Field Training Officer, by honing my teaching and communication abilities while sharing investigative, administrative, and tactical law enforcement skills and knowledge, which I have utilized in my capacity as a Taser instructor. In my time with Mount Pleasant Police Department, I have never incurred any filed complaint or reprimand regarding any dissatisfactory service, conduct, or work ethic from citizens or supervisors in my service to this community.

I have fulfilled a five year service term with the Criminal Investigations Bureau, an environment which promotes independence, as well as holds a high expectation of an officer’s investigative and case management skills. In this term, I successfully investigated a variety of high profile cases, to include homicide and other death investigations, high dollar fraud investigation, and property crimes. These investigations were conducted in a thorough and fair manner, with mindfulness for all applicable laws, the pursuit of justice, and agency liability. These cases have included juvenile victims, in addition to adult victims.

In 2013, I joined the Mount Pleasant S.W.A.T. Team, where I obtained the position of shield operator, after demonstrating a good understanding of team tactics. I held this position, which was subject to a constant on-call status. During this time, I handled a variety of high-risk calls, to include armed barricaded subjects and high risk search warrants.

At the completion of police academy, I was awarded the J. P. Strom Award from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy for academic excellence in July 2009.While assigned to Patrol Division, I recognized my will to become a detective, and therefore became an investigative officer for my assigned patrol team, investigating cases assigned to teammates in addition to fulfilling my primary patrol function and duties, demonstrating my ability to handle additional duties and obligations while maintaining satisfactory performance as a district officer.
