I am a Senior Research analyst at NNFCC a bioeconomy consultancy based in York, North Yorkshire. We apply expertise to the rapidly developing bioeconomy as we assist in the development and application of sustainable feedstocks, strong policy, market engagement and innovative technology. The work we undertake is varied and extensive, but usually includes evaluation/assessment of a case, followed up with clear reporting and communication of the findings to our clients. We also work to disseminate important information, that is of public interest, both for the benefit of our clients and to assist the burgeoning circular economy. I studied an undergraduate degree in chemistry at the University of Leeds, before returning from a short period working for a rapidly growing Life Science company, to complete a PhD in bioenergy at the University of Leeds. During the PhD I researched catalytic co-pyrolysis of biomass and waste plastics as a potential feedstock for production of fuels or chemicals. After graduating I spent time working for an amazing charity based in Leeds where I had several responsibilities, with my primary role being management of horticultural growing for the in house bedding plant sales, through the charity’s garden nursery (https://www.craghousefarm.com/garden-nurseries).
