In my role as a support worker, I worked a mixture of day shifts and night shifts. My duties on shift included providing care for adults with a range of different learning disabilities and mental health conditions such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, Epilepsy, and much more. This included keeping the client's company and helping them go about their normal day-to-day activities as smoothly as possible. Helping them to do their shopping, talking about anything that is on their minds, being emotional and sometimes physical support for them. From cooking and cleaning to helping them to go out to places and have a good time. I am medication trained for this job and I also know a range of Makaton/British Sign Language. I am also trained in MAYBO restraint procedures that are relevant to this specific placement.I have learned so much from this job and no two days are the same. My patience and ability to cope in stressful situations and care for others have all grown massively.

During my time at Mcdonald's I learned how to work as part of a team in a very fast-paced, stressful environment. I learned how to work with time limits and cope under pressure and how to solve problems quickly and efficiently. I am fully trained in food safety.

In my time at Coral, I used the tills to serve customers and handled up to £10,000 in cash from day-to-day. I opened and closed the shop alone and ran the shift by working alone a lot. I learned how to settle bets and work out returns of odds by using mathematical skills.

In my job at Rugby Road Newsagents, I was helping out a friend in their shop by working part-time.I helped to arrange the newspapers for delivery and would sometimes deliver them myself. I would stack the shelves and make sure that the relevant stock was up to date and tidy. This job helped me to build my confidence and learn how to talk to people in a professional setting.

I was a carer for my physically disabled father for almost 5 years. This included cleaning, cooking, assisting with mobility, finding exciting things to keep us busy, ensuring that he took his medication on time and making sure that he always had enough in stock. and much more.This job helped me to become more patient and caring towards others.

I volunteered every Sunday at Pets at Home, Longton for Pawprints Animal Charity. The charity raises money for vets bills for a lady who adopts and saves disabled animals. I held a tombola stall inside the store that sold teddies and other items to people and the proceeds went to the charity. This has helped me get my confidence in getting out of the house back up and talking and interacting with people, as being a full-time carer for the previous few years, I hardly left the house.
