As time passed, I developed my career and expanded my skill set. I worked on the Data Engineering and DevOps teams while also contributing to the UI team, which helped me become one of the subject matter experts on my project. I fully understood the scope of tasks in an end-to-end fashion and led multiple teams while contributing to executing larger product features. I increased our application's ability to ingest documents with little to no data loss such that we were adding thousands of new, non-duplicate records each day. I developed a system using new APIs from the other components in the organization to ensure we were getting the most up-to-date data that was filtered from duplicates. I also developed EKS cron jobs that would run certain scripts of our ingestion service to reprocess records we received that had failed ingestion.Later on, I took on the role of Technical Lead in a new project. I lead a team of data engineers to build data ingestion and data delivery features for analysts by using AWS cloud services to make their data widely available to the organization.
  • Excella
    Senior Consultant
    Excella Dec 2021 - Sep 2022
    Arlington, Virginia, United States
When I first joined Excella, I was excited about the opportunities ahead. However, it took some time before I could begin the assigned engagement due to the nature of the work. During this initial period, I secured my 508 certification and familiarized myself with web accessibility.Upon joining my project, I was the sole front-end developer on a team of software engineers working on a project with a microservice architecture. I improved the tests of the UI layer, resulting in a 10% increase in code coverage and a reduction in the time it took to implement new features to just a few hours per task or story.I was also able to restructure the React codebase to make it scalable. It had been developed as an MVP to handle only one type of case group from our client. I made it so that it could handle any number of case groups with some configuration changes. This also increased the reusability of the React components. The recompete for this project was slated for the spring after I had joined, and by showing myself as a strong contributor to the project, I was recruited to join the team for the recompete. We built an MVP of a microservice application which won.As more front-end developers joined the project, I took on the role of mentoring them as they came on board. Gradually, I transitioned into the position of lead for the front-end team. Through my initiatives, we created guidelines to create code consistency, which allowed the team to maintain delivery as we continued to scale.
  • The Scylla Group
    Senior Front-End Developer
The Scylla Group Dec 2019 - Dec 2021
    Winchester, Virginia, United States
I rejoined The Scylla Group at a great time. Their previous lead front-end developer was leaving, and I returned to take on the role. During most of this stint, I was the sole front-end developer in the company and was involved in every project we undertook. My role was divided between developing apps and sites for clients and consulting with the clients on their goals. I assisted in building numerous tools for our clients to aid in marketing initiatives and to help them modernize their internal, manual processes. One of my greatest accomplishments was building https://modspot.app/ for The Scylla Group. This internal SaaS application was created in response to our client's desire to add 3D models to their product detail pages. I helped architect the entire application and took it from zero to one. After some time, I was also able to hire a junior front-end developer and mentor them as they started their development journey.
  • Marathon Consulting
    Web Developer Consultant
    Marathon Consulting Jul 2019 - Dec 2019
    Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States
During my brief time here, I made a significant impact. I served as a UI developer for an internal application built in Angular 8, which was an engine diagnostic tool for a major engine manufacturer. I collaborated closely with the client to plan features and spent a considerable amount of time addressing technical debt in the application. As the team expanded, I quickly gained recognition as a top contributor and even took on the responsibility of mentoring new team members, despite my short tenure. After my first three months, my client at Marathon provided me with an excellent performance review.
  • The Scylla Group
    Front-End Developer
The Scylla Group Sep 2017 - Jul 2019
    Winchester, Virginia, United States
When I joined Scylla, I quickly discovered opportunities to contribute to coding and other client-focused tasks. I demonstrated my dedication and perseverance as a valuable contributor. Initially, I focused on developing UI components for Umbraco CMS websites, which were then integrated with Razor templates to create reusable blocks for our CMS clients.I transitioned to a project building an internal case management system for a legal team because of my experience with front-end frameworks. This project utilized Vue.js, and I quickly adapted to it. The transition was successful, leading to my appointment as the lead for front-end efforts for our web applications. As a result, I focused less on the Umbraco CMS side of things but still provided support when needed.
  • Scriyb
    Front-End Developer
    Scriyb Aug 2016 - Aug 2017
    Manassas, Virginia, United States
This marked my initial venture into development. I joined the team as the first front-end developer to spearhead the platform's development from scratch. I was responsible for creating most of the UI features and contributed to identifying ways to advance the product's capabilities. I drove taking the platform from zero to one and getting the MVP launched. Additionally, I frequently engaged directly with our customers to validate our assumptions and gather their feedback to enhance our features. The platform was developed using AngularJS and Express.js. My responsibilities included translating designs into code and working with our project manager to meet sprint goals through daily stand-up meetings. I also contributed to the backend and transitioned to a full-stack developer.
