Sandvik acquired the Extec Group in 2007£200m Division within the Construction Business Area of Sandvik AB producing, exporting and selling construction and demolition equipment with 600 employeesIn 2011 I was appointed Divisional Finance Director and Member of the Executive Team with full P&L responsibility across the 28 worldwide sales and 5 production units with specific responsibility for the profit improvement plan. Responsible for Finance and IT with 28 staff across 2 sites but with close interactions with the Finance staff across the other sales and production units. Achievements include• Key member of the team identifying and implementing the key profit improvement plan tasks: - route to market - design to cost• Creating working relationships with the key sales and production unit staff to facilitate the change in route to market.• Set up of divisional reporting infrastructureIn 2007, I was appointed Finance Director of the £190m Sandvik Mobiles business created from the combined Extec and Fintec acquisitions with 30 staff across 2 manufacturing sitesAchievements include• Key member of the management team responsible for managing the business through a significant downsizing exercise.• 6 month secondment as Managing Director of SMC UK (£28m turnover).• Creation of and implementation of the integration plan for Extec and Fintec into the Sandvik business structure including sale/closure of companies in USA and Australia and transfer of the German business.• Maintenance of morale and staff retention through a period of instability• Improved corporate governance to meet Sandvik’s exacting standards

PE owned £140m producer and exporter of construction and demolition equipment with 2 manufacturing sites and 3 sales companies in US, Australia and Europe with 500 employees worldwideKey member of a small management team with responsibility for all financial, banking, IT and HR matters with 24 staff reporting to meAchievements include:• Important member of the senior management team that led the sales process of the group to Sandvik.• Led the £112m and £64m refinancing of the group in 2007 and 2005• Launched the dealer financing programme for the key US market• Part of the management team that led the business to budget beating performance during a period of instability• Sponsored the project that brought the IT infrastructure up to a position where it was fit for purpose.

This was the most senior financial role in the Manchester based region, one of 7 in the UK. £450m turnover with 1650 staff.Member of the Executive Team, with specific responsibility for the development and implementation of financial strategy and the delivery of challenging targets for both financial and non-financial KPIs. 6 managers and 30 staff at 3 sitesAchievements include: Re-established the morale and credibility of the Finance function, re-organising and recruiting professional staff As a result of performance of own team, was invited by the Group Financial Controller to lead a national initiative to develop the commercial and technical competence of Area Financial Controllers Improved cash forecasting accuracy by 40% through utilisation of Six Sigma techniques Gained significant savings and improved KPI performance through rigorous challenge as Chairman of the Investment Panel controlling £120m p.a. spend Personally negotiated £100k commercial settlement with Virgin Trains

£300m manufacturer of armed military vehicles for home and export marketsApproached to take up this position, initially with a team of 40 staff, with a heavy project bias. Specific projects included: Key member of project team that carried out and then implemented a strategic review of the business, including a factory closure with savings of £25m and loss of 600 jobs Successful integration of South African armed vehicle manufacturing acquisition (£60M turnover)  Led financial and commercial appraisal for potential acquisition in Greece Established Joint Venture Company with significant French partner

STE Limited was acquired by the American Venture Capitalist firm CVC plc in 1997, and combined into a new organisation with total turnover of £125M. Promoted into this new role, in the newly created group with operations in the UK, USA and Australia. Responsible for establishing a HQ Finance function and systems.
