At RightShip, our Mission is to improve the safety, environmental sustainability and crew welfare of the maritime industry to drive Zero Harm - for people, environment and assets.As Executive Director, EMEA, I am responsible to design, lead and execute customer and key stakeholder engagement strategies to build strategic relationships and drive business development and growth across the business, raising performance and contributing to RightShip’s wider business success and impact. My role requires me to oversee the stewardship and relationships of more than 300 customers across the maritime ecosystem including owners, managers, charterers, traders, banks, insurers, ports and terminals. This allows my team and I to better understand and appreciate the challenges and opportunities across the broader value chain. This is complemented with the requirement to cultivate relationships and partnerships with NGO, major industry bodies and stakeholder groups, and charities to ensure RightShip are at the forefront of driving responsible business to reduce harm.I am also responsible for providing strong, proactive leadership to create and maintain a positive and psychologically safe culture that motivates employees, and an engaging office environment for staff.

Lead as the RightShip representative on the Members Committee for the Sustainable Shipping Initiative (SSI) working collaboratively with other industry stakeholders to further sustainability in the shipping sector. A member of the Ship Recycling and Transparency Initiative (SRTI) work groups

Global corporate, commercial, technical, and strategic management for a growing Dry Bulk Commodity Fleet (8 vessels, 820k Dwt; 350 employees) for a single strategy private equity investment fund.Part of the Executive Team reporting directly to the CEO with responsibility for shaping global strategy and controlling corporate and operational functions including resource planning, investor and stakeholder relationship management and corporate compliance.Building and maintaining effective, trusting relationships that reinforce Anglo’s key values of partnership, sustainability, and governance to increase brand equity and enrich stakeholder experiences across the value chain.Developing a culture of shared ownership through purpose led leadership and co-creation and optimisation of process, procedures and intellectual capital in order improve value, upskill talent and up-scale operational capability for growth.Responsible for implementing and directing strategic operational and financial performance through implementation of strategic initiatives, KPIs and strategic partnerships to enhance sustainable value.Developing and delivering corporate projects in line with Board expectations including Anglo’s Environmental Compliance Project for carbon reduction.

OPERATIONS LEADERSHIP ROLE: Front-line global operations management facilitating large-scale transportation (circa 9% of the world’s LNG), marine assurance, security and fleet shipping operations for a growing LNG Division (multiple vessels; 2,000 employees). Reporting to the Business Unit Leadership Team. OPERATIONS STRATEGY & ROADMAP: Shaping global strategy roadmap (vision) with accountability for operational standards, scaling-up fleet capability and commercial performance of contracts. Responsibility for Fleet Security & Resilience, including threat risk management, physical security, emergency / and contingency planning to manage changing (emerging) threats. Ensuring all provisions / insurances are fully in place.OPERATIONAL COMPLIANCE & GOVERNANCE: Compliance Champion for third party vetting, screening, risk analysis and conformance standards. Managing compliance risk, governance, best practice and controls to industry regulations directly with the Group Chief Compliance Officer. Oversight for mandatory staff training (up-skilling). Working on group-level initiatives for Oil & Gas Fleet Operations with global collaboration on Vetting Strategy & Sustainability Strategic Planning following doubling of fleet size. CORPORATE REPRESENTATION & STAKEHOLDERS: Corporate appointment on Insurance Board of Directors. Managing strategic relationships with key global internal and external stakeholders (customers, NGOs, industry bodies and authorities. Developed / promoted industry leading standards, governance and assurance. GLOBAL OPERATIONS FRAMEWORK & STANDARDS: Embedded fit for purpose policies, processes, systems and controls covering cost optimisation, quality inspections, safety compliance, global benchmarking, H&S incident reporting and investigations.

OPERATIONS DIRECTOR: Led operations strategy, transformation programme and integration of several vessels leased to another company. Negotiated Ship Management Agreements. Executed contract terminations, managed transition of assets and solved issues around asset management, fleet repair and maintenance (i.e. technical condition, inspections and reliability).BUSINESS MODEL (START-UP OPERATIONS): Led business model for new start-up operation with an operational strategy to re-integrate vessels into the larger fleet. Set-up a complete operation from scratch, including Chartering, Commercial Operations, Revenue and Cost Management, Financial Performance (P&L / OPEX budgets / forecasting) and Technical Assurance (Quality Inspections, Safety Compliance, Fleet Security, Governance & Assurance). TRANSFORMATION & CULTURE: Embedded new ways of working, implemented operational standards and transformed culture (oversight for Managers; 300 employees; 7 vessels), including a new Shipping Model and changing safety culture resulting in increased revenue (3 successive quarters), double digit operating cost reduction, increased asset uptime, reliability and operational performance. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: Effective day-one engagement and first-class service delivery, including business development and managing key relationships in a new sector to strengthen commercial performance (added new customers and brokers to portfolio).

OPERATIONS LEADERSHIP ROLE: Scaled-up operations (doubled fleet size) for LNG fleet expansion for the third largest owner / operator of LNG vessels. Senior-level involvement in complex commercial tender negotiations and managing complex bid strategies (won several long-term contracts). OPERATIONS EXCELLENCE & STRATEGY: Collaboration with C-Suite & Senior Leadership Teams on annual strategy planning and Quarterly Operational Reviews. Analysed performance (KPI metrics and balanced scorecards) and scoped future projects to drive improvements. Led best practice operations and assurance for Marine Operations, Commercial Operations, Assurance, Vetting & Screening and Corporate Compliance. INDUSTRY STAKEHOLDERS & CONTRACT PERFORMANCE: Managed commercial contract relationships (global customer portfolio) for major oil & gas corporations, financial institutions and trading houses alongside joint venture partners, insurers, legal firms, shipping agencies, contractors, maritime organisations and industry leading consultants. Managed escalations for customer and third-party service providers. COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS: Solving problems across global time zones to maintain operational delivery / service standards to avoid contractual claims / protect revenues. Managed risk / claims mitigation, budget controls, invoicing, revenue management and cost recovery (recharging).GLOBAL SHIPPING OPERATIONS: Created intellectual capital with instruction manuals for third-party managed vessels, cost recovery processes, Fleet Management Operations, emergency procedures, customer communications strategy (email systems / naming protocols) and Insurance Conditions of Use.INDUSTRY INITIATIVES: Led corporate-wide industry leading External Navigation Audit Programme (100+ vessels) and reduced risk exposure across all operations. Defined industry leading standards, best practice and governance through industry representation and forums (i.e. corporate marine, vetting and safety standards).

SENIOR OPERATIONS MANAGER: Developed operational capability ready for growth, scalability and fleet expansion before progressing into an Operations Director role. Operational leadership oversight for Marine Operations, Commercial Operations, Governance & Assurance, Vetting & Screening, relationship management, customer experience, contract performance and revenue management.

Fleet Officer employed on a range of vessels and trade routes:Product Carriers: employed Short Sea Trade around Europe - extensive experience of navigating in heavy traffic through Dover Straits and through river transits to inland ports. LNG Vessels: Experience on Moss Rosenburg, NO96 and Q Max vessels trading Worldwide. Experience on using different cargi IAS systems and using different operational methods due to age and type of ships.Experience working with reliquefaction system vessels.

FLEET OFFICER (Qualified Master Mariner). Excellent experience in managing all aspects of Ship-Board Operations, including Operational Risk, H&S Compliance, Fleet Operations (Cargo, Navigation, Mooring & Ship to Ship Transfers), Security, Repair & Maintenance, Emergency Response and team management. SPECIALIST OPERATIONS: Helicopter fight-operations, search and rescue, intelligence surveillance, command and control, international relations. Adapted to y different scenarios and emergency situations. Added exposure to managing both cargo and people (passengers).
