My degree studies have made me very capable of relating theoretical software design issues to the real life business problems that they model. This allows me the ability to produce software systems more suited to their specific business need. The overview of business provided by my degree has led to me being more proficient in the analysis of both business processes and scenario analysis, allowing me to highlight possible problem areas during project analysis or in early development phases. For my dissertation I produced a web orientated project management system, produced using ASP with VBScript. Leading me to be of intermediate proficiency at both ASP programming and VBScript programming. Though the project area led to me being aware of many issues involved with project management such as customer relations management and the allocation of time for these specific customers. Use of VBScript has also led me to use other Visual Basic orientated languages such as Visual Basic for Applications and Visual Basic itself, though I do feel more proficient and confident in the use of either VBA or VBScript I am gathering more and more confidence within the use of VB. My use of VBA has mainly been in Microsoft Access though I have had small amounts of experience with VBA programming in Excel to integrate between these two packages. My experience as a participant in IT courses and previous experience assisting at the Tewkesbury IT Centre have led to me being able to explain technical issues and concepts to non-technical colleagues, leading to the production of several user reference guides for use at both previous employers Assureweb and JL French (Presteigne). My role at Assureweb has given me a small insight into the Financial Services industry and has also required the further development of my communication skills with my role involving large amounts of customer communication and support.
Listed skills include Visual Basic 5.0/6.0, Vba, Vb.Net, C#, and 16 others.
