I work for Entura in Hobart Tasmania, providing consulting services in renewable energy to clients in Australia, the Pacific and Asia. I've been privileged to observe up close and play a small part in the remarkable growth in renewable energy over the past 20 years, and we're just getting started.I became interested in aerodynamics while studying at Monash University, Melbourne Australia, which included one semester studying at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, USA. After completing my Bachelor of Engineering I returned to the US, where I was employed to run experiments in wind tunnels and Computation Fluid Dynamic models. Upon realising that neither the US aerospace industry nor hot air ballooning could provide the sustainable and ethical career I was seeking, I returned to Australia to research aspects of the aerodynamics of small wind turbines, at the University of Newcastle. My work mixed practical design, implementation and experimentation of a small wind turbine installation, numerical modelling, and the mandatory time spent writing my thesis.

  I am involved in and leading many aspects of Entura's and Hydro Tasmania's wind, solar and hybrid off-grid projects. This includes bidding, negotiating technical scope and commercial terms and conditions, project delivery, technical review and approval, and managing multidisciplinary project teams. My work spans all project phases from initial concept, site investigations, feasibility studies, financing, construction and operation.
