I am realistic with clients and want to avoid them wasting time and money if there is no real commercial benefit.For over 17 years (starting at the UK Patent Office), I have focussed on software inventions and spend much of my time helping to protect those. I have worked for SMEs, Universities and some of the largest corporations in the world. I worked in silicon valley for a year and am a qualified US patent agent. I sit on the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys Computer Technology Committee and regularly speak and write on software patents nationally and internationally. I also provide expert commentary on patents to the media, including the BBC News, Newsnight and Radio 5 Live.Medical devices also take up a large amount of my time and I enjoy interacting with the engineers and senior management of the UK part of one of the world's largest medical companiesI also work on electronics and physics based inventions and am proud that my old research group received the Nobel prize for its work on Graphene.
