Hi, my name is Andrew Daane and I am the founder and Lab Director of Daane Labs. We specialize in testing food, cosmetics, dietary supplements, and fungal identification. My interest for Biology began in high school when I took an Advanced Placement Biology course from a professor who was a friend of my grandfathers. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and a minor in business from Clemson University. I went on to study environmental microbiology for my Master’s degree; investigating ways to reduce the spread of food-borne illness from industrial compost to the food chain. After graduation I started working as a microbiologist and later founded Daane Labs. I also serve as a technical advisor for the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia.♦ DAANE LABS' BEGINNINGSWhile I was working as a microbiologist in 2009, I was purchasing microbiological supplies from a company in Charlotte, NC. I told my boss I could make these same products for us at half the price. He agreed and within two months I had all the equipment I needed and rented a 1,000 square foot facility. After working all day, I would go to my lab and begin making microbiological products - often working until the wee hours of the morning.
