I lead 7 managers and 46 staff in managing strategic conservation efforts in Norway and across 14 countries. This includes ensuring alignment to organisational goals and increasing WWF Norway's influence within the global WWF network. I built organisational capacity with a major re-structure and expansion in 2021 aligned with rapid funding increase. In line with the increasing pressures on conservation work posed by climate change and loss of nature, I influenced culture, policies and practices towards more innovative systemic change, working to translate our strategy into tangible outcomes and results. I ensure all projects are aligned to the 2030 organisational strategy in addition to achieving annual outcomes and impact targets.Recruiting and upskilling the team from 33 in Jan 2021 to 46 in 2023, I initiated the ‘Bigger Minds’ initiative, utilising design thinking to encourage new and innovative ways of thinking in an environment of continuous development. I lead two WWF global network committees and mentor staff in global roles to ensure effective delivery of impact.Reporting to the CEO, I oversee relationships with key donors – including Norad – in addition to support for private fundraising in other teams, and ensuring high quality reporting and accountability. I have played a significant role in developing the profile of WWF-Norway within the global WWF network and supporting use of the global network across the organisation.I have supported development of technical capacity and leadership across oil and gas phase out, plastics pollution and deep seabed mining so WWF-Norway is now seen as an international influencer. The WWF-Norway Plastic Team provided WWF network leadership, playing a crucial role in influencing countries to formally agree at UNEA to develop a global treaty to combat plastic pollution.Retaining a focus on people and civil society within conversation, I have actively promoted Inclusive Conservation within the WWF global network.

Swiftly promoted to this new role, I developed a more systemic approach to managing projects and improve policies, processes and people to develop capacity and capability in line with fast organisational growth. This included leading a team of 16 staff and advisors working across multiple projects with large budget increases over time. I developed the 2020-2030 organisational vision and strategy including a major organisational re-structuring to facilitate growth and improve quality of services. I co-drove the change to a longer term, more strategic implementation of all conservation work both in Norway and internationally. Completing the transition from numerous scattered projects to focussed national and regional programmes, this promoted greater impact and quality, monitoring, evaluation, learning and replication. I also led cultural change and overhauled recruitment and talent management to significantly improve knowledge and capability across the teams.Developed the first international strategy, this significantly grew fundraising together with engaged and empowered teams of advisors and a clear departmental strategy. I actively developed the relationship with our key donor including impact driven reporting and assessments. I championed WWF Norway’s influence and engagement within the global network specifically around the areas of scaling impact and WWF relationships with civil society.

In this role I led a team of 9 in the early stage of the organisation’s development setting strategic direction and overseeing the effective planning and delivery of international projects and initiatives. I developed organisational policies, processes and procedures to enhance professionalism and the quality and delivery of services. Additionally, I developed the relationship with key donor Norad, and secured the first multi-year framework agreement enabling a more strategic and long-term approach to organisational planning.

Tanzania

I managed a €multi-million budget and team of 120+ across water, environmental health and food security initiatives in a partnership with the Tanzanian government and NGOs. I developed an innovative rights-based approach in working with partners to scale-up impact and innovation to significantly improve delivery.

Focusing on evaluations and strategic planning, including three months Acting Deputy Director for Save the Children Fund in Mozambique.

In collaboration with the Programme Manager, I provided day-to-day support, advice and problem solving to four Area Offices in Somali, covering NW, NE, SW and Central Regions of Somalia.

Working on the Kenya Relief and Rehabilitation Programme, I was based from Nairobi but worked in eight districts of Kenya, improving technical input into agricultural and environmental projects in drought prone areas aiming at long-term food security and environmental sustainability.
