He has fourteen years of experience auditing banks, a leasing company, broker-dealers, mortgage companies, mutual funds, pension funds, and investment companies. He has also provided advisory services to three banks and a provincial investment corporation.Responsible for the audit of the implementation of the impairment requirements of IFRS 9 (Financial Instruments) at a large Canadian bank, including walkthroughs and control testing, model vetting in conjunction with the EY credit modelling team, macroeconomic forecasts with the EY economics team, IFRS 9 whitepaper review, and project management.Audited the wholesale division of a large Canadian bank, including the IIROC registered broker-dealer, auditing the derivative model valuation, the model management SOX controls, Fixed Income, Credit, Equity, Interest Rate, Foreign Exchange, Energy, and Precious Metals Derivatives trading businesses, the value at risk (VaR) process, funding valuation adjustment (FVA), credit valuation adjustment (CVA) and other valuation adjustments.Audited a vehicle fleet leasing company, including lease classification between operating and financing leases, the implementation of IFRS 16 (new leasing standard), the implications of ASC 842 (new US GAAP leasing standard) on the business, as well as service revenue including vehicle maintenance, telematics (GPS) revenue, and the implementation of IFRS 15 (new revenue standards).Audited various mutual funds and exchange traded funds, including both vanilla and structured products.In charge of data analytics for the financial services audit practice and a member of our audit innovation lab, working with a group of programmers to automate various steps of audits including bond and derivatives valuations, and the use of drones for inventory counts.
