Worked in the Highways and Transportation department as part of the bridges team and contributed to a number of projects. I performed structural analysis as part of a major infrastructure maintenance project, as well as conducting inspections and providing condition reports and maintenance recommendations for a number of smaller infrastructure assets.

Worked on Project Mensa – the first Class 1 nuclear structure to be built in the UK since Sellafield – where my responsibilities included surveying as-built work, setting out, taking inclinometer test readings and signing off stages of work as it was completed. Working on this project with experienced, professional engineers has given me a hugely beneficial insight into all aspects of working life in the industry, including the use of professional standard equipment, and the project management procedures and paperwork necessary for successful construction work on site.

Event and hospitality services including bar work and waiting tables, from large weddings to major sporting events (British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Newmarket). This taught me the importance of professionalism when working in the public eye in high pressure situations dealing with people from all walks of life.
