Newsnet is the group sales operation for News Ltd’s metropolitan newspapers, which writes about 70% of the display advertising revenue nationally. Sales are to advertising agencies although there are high levels of direct customer contact on key accounts. The role of Sales Director had six direct reports and reported through to News Ltd Group Advertising Director.Newsnet was one of the first network sales operations in the Australian media. A single point of contact was a welcome initiative for customers and it positioned News Ltd at the forefront of media discussions due to the strength of its assets in key metropolitan markets. Newsnet pioneered group negotiations as well as integrated sales and strategic selling to non-traditional newspaper advertisers. This market position required a greater breadth of media knowledge beyond solely print to TV, Online, Radio and Magazines.
