Janison builds online learning and assessment solutions, for Corporate, Government and Education clients in Australia and overseas. The scope of the Account Manager role at Janison was large. Business development, managing and building client relationships, building industry expertise and advocating client needs within Janison were all core activities. Account Managers at Janison were also the Business Analyst or Project Manager (or both) for new projects. With my technical background and skills, I was also needed for project implementation work, such as data wrangling and analysis, data migrations, building reports – sometimes even writing code.Janison transitioned to formal account management at the same time as I moved into this area of the business. As part of the transition, I created the majority of the business' reusable artefacts to run projects and client accounts.This included standard meeting agendas, platform design documents to support business analysis, standard project schedules, workshop agendas, implementation handover documents, launch plans and project retrospectives.In the Account Manager role I was a member of the Leadership Team with regular participation and contribution to key business performance metrics, strategy days and the general direction of the business.

My role as Client Services Manager included a range of duties covering all phases of client engagement at Janison, including:Providing advice and guidance to the sales team as they pursued new opportunities. Preparing proposals for prospective clients and providing pre-sales product demonstrations. Seeking and pursuing new opportunities with existing clients.Performing business analysis, including client site business analysis workshops. Discovery and definition of project requirements, workflows, tasks, designs and schedules. Creation of project artefacts to support software development and configuration to client specific requirements.Project management and account management.Team management - for six people directly reporting to me and a further seven indirect reports. As a member of the Janison Leadership Team I helped set the direction and strategy of the wider Janison business.At the operational level I was active in enhancing and streamlining operational processes to maximise effectiveness and efficiency and I worked with the the CEO to define and launch formal account management processes at Janison.

Macquarie Group is a leading provider of banking, financial, advisory, investment and funds management services. They are arguably the most successful investment bank in Australia’s history.I worked initially as a a contractor (VBA Developer) before moving into a full time (Associate) position. In both positions I performed the same role - working in the Information Technology Group providing desktop application development and support to the Futures Clearing business. The business covered all aspects of Futures Clearing, including offshore and domestic trade clearing, cash management, brokerage, client service and risk management.The desktop applications comprised around 300 Access and Excel VBA systems. The size of the systems varied considerably from simple data extractors/mappers to business critical applications with 10,000+ lines of code, 100's of Access database objects and running off SQL Server, Sybase and DB2 databases with complex stored procedures.My role included working with the business to determine requirements and design effective solutions.During my time at Macquarie Group I worked before, during and after the global financial crisis. I was publicly acknowledged and received an award for my efforts during the crisis in reconciling accounts and various other data during the collapse of Lehman Brothers, who at the time were a large clearing partner of Macquarie Group.Some of the more significant systems I worked on included:- Rebuild of the cash management application.- Design and development of a new FX system to improve and consolidate existing FX systems.- Development of a portfolio stress testing system.- Performance tuning the brokerage systems.- Large scale data reconciliations.Macquarie Group operates strict change management and risk management policies which I applied to all my work.

James & Monroe is a consultancy which specialises in Business Performance Management and Business Intelligence. Their clients come from various industries including banking, property and retail.As a Senior Consultant I worked at several clients in a technical capacity and as a managing consultant. At each client I was located in the Corporate Finance area of the business. During my time at James & Monroe I used Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Essbase, SQL Server, DTS, ADO, Access, Excel, Word, and VBA. The key clients I worked with included:OPSM: - Designed and developed reports for KPIs, consolidated sales, P&L, and brand health. - Designed and developed a front end to deliver reports. - Designed and developed statements application based on AMEX corporate data feed.Toyota Financial Services - Provided technical support for 38 Hyperion Essbase cubes and a Hyperion Planning application.Investa Property Group - Installed and configured Hyperion Planning. - Designed and developed extract transform and load functionality (ETL) for Hyperion integration.

Diageo is the world’s leading premium drinks business producing well known brands like Guinness, Smirnoff, Bundaberg Rum, Dom Pérignon, Moët & Chandon, Johnnie Walker and Baileys.As an Analyst Programmer, I worked in the applications support group maintaining existing systems, developing new systems and was a 2nd line support resource.The systems I worked on were productivity applications for small teams, including a data quality team within HR and a group of lab technicians who create and tune flavours to make new drinks. A highlight of my time at Diageo was receiving a bottle of a new type of gin which had been developed with the assistance of one of my systems.During my time at Diageo I used SQL Server, DTS, ADO, Access, Excel, Word, VBA, and VB. I worked on various systems, including:- Designed and developed a system to store, query and report on flavour data.- Developed business performance management applications for the African supply division.- Fine tuned and rebuilt existing productivity applications to run faster with less issues.

Thomson Reuters is a leading provider of quality financial information, research, analysis, and software products to the worldwide investment and corporate communities.As an Analyst Programmer, I was responsible for the design, development and operation of various bespoke systems, primarily concerned with the business' credit control function.I was involved at all stages of the system life cycle for an automated credit control application used by 30 credit controllers. I designed and developed the application from the ground up, with key features including a real-time diary/work screen with priorities, contact and conversation management, action tracking, dunning status and activity, daily work statistics (showing how effective the credit controllers were) and past/future diary inspection.I built custom extract, transform and load (ETL) functionality to automatically bring in data from the back office ERP systems and, at the time, the system I built was the only available platform which could effectively consolidate data from all three of the business' billing systems. As such, comprehensive reporting and analysis could be achieved.I designed, built and supported a number of other add-ons to the main credit control system, including:- A management and reporting console for the credit control system.- Production of customer statements, dunning letters and provision for bad debts reports.- Analytics/KPI reporting based on the collections and billings systems.- An aged debt system.- An order management system.

Datum Group, which is now part of the Senetas Corporation Limited, was a consultancy which delivered business intelligence and performance management solutions via it’s own commercial software and through partnering with Microsoft and IBM.At Datum I worked on various projects, including:- Australian Stock Exchange: Data mart to support market reporting and dashboards.- DBS Bank (Singapore): Reporting system for the bank’s CRM application.- Australian Rugby Union: Membership management and reporting system. - Insurance Commission of WA: Budgeting and forecasting system.- Inform: Retail monitoring system and web based reporting.
