Aire Logic (formerly XML Solutions) were tasked with creating e-forms for use in Electronic Patient Record systems at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. To support this, I have developed a C# .NET based framework to integrate these forms into the Trust’s Electronic Patient Record system, PPM+. Approximately 6.4 million e-forms were submitted in PPM+ over the year to Sept 2019, providing improved searchability of patient records and eliminating the same number of paper forms with their associated environmental and administrative costs.I also worked on related projects including: • Forms supporting patient’s pathway through Yorkshire Lung Cancer Screening trial, including back-end calculations for cancer risk, and integration of cancer nodule predictions from CT scans via Veolity AI system.• Suite of ETL components to extract data from forms, for our Information teams.• Aggregated Summary View in PPM+, showing data trends across multiple documents.• Custom PDF design for Respect forms, for patients' resuscitation wishes.• e-Obs: Capturing and charting patient observations such as respiration, BP and heart rate.• Integration of Aire Logic’s new forms4health framework with improved form designer UI.

Worked as developer on several .NET and SQL projects relating to healthcare data, including:Diagnostic Imaging Dataset, which is used to identify delays in imaging and treatment for cancer patients.Data Delivery Service (DDS), a file distribution and notification service used in large-scale data processing solutions within the NHS;For the Clinical Indicators team, I wrote SQL Server stored procedures to perform statistical processing to help calculate the Standardised Hospital Mortality Indicator (SHMI).Helped to develop a TeamCity MSBuild solution for automated UAT and Live builds of .NET solutions.

This was a personal project, an app which finds and displays nearby GP surgeries that are open at the time of searching (a search option not offered by NHS apps at the time). The Android application used Google API for maps and geo-coding, with a .NET web service for location-based searches against syndicated NHS data.

NHS Choices is the principal web site of the NHS in England - see www.nhs.uk. I was contracted first to Dr Foster Intelligence then to Capita, who won the NHS Choices contract in 2009.I became the technical specialist for Scorecard, a system for finding and comparing hospitals, GPs, dentists etc and displaying comparative indicators about their clinical performance and patient facilities. Team leader for Generic Ratings and Comments project, which was delivered in time to meet a Dept of Health commitment to allow the public to post feedback on all organisations and services within NHS Choices by the end of 2010.Also worked on Moderation, Profile Information Management System, Information Prescription System and Search and Taxonomy.

Carried out enhancements and bug fixes on e-commerce web sites for many household names.

Worked on web front-end and repayment calculation API for Zopa (www.zopa.com), a peer-to-peer lending and borrowing exchange.

Edexcel carry out scanning of examination papers at their Rotherham premises, to facilitate online marking. I worked on their scanner control and image capture software, written in C++. Designed new architecture for a C# .NET upgrade of the scanning software. Supervised a small team and delivered a working prototype before end of contract.

Programming in C# .NET, on commercial projects including a logistics management system for Eve Trakway, who provide the fencing and roadways for Glastonbury Festival.

Worked on workflow and helpdesk solutions for local government, pensions and social housing applications. Specialist in document scanning and image processing; introduced fast JPEG colour scanning and optimised code to handle A0 size images.

Worked on C++ software for testing and alignment of RF filters. Became project lead for NetWorks, the in-house RF network design tool. Promoted to senior engineer in 1998 and became a Chartered Engineer in 2000.

A Teaching Company Scheme involves technology transfer from universities into industry, similar to the current Knowledge Transfer Programmes. I worked on embedded software to add sampling technology to an electronic 'classical' organ. Attended Teaching Company's management training and personal development modules, and courses in C++ programming.

Duties included live comms operations and the maintenance and installation of broadcast equipment, at BBC Leeds, with a 6-month attachment to BBC Scotland Outside Broadcast Unit at East Kilbride. Completed BBC's ETSI engineering training programme.
