Currently overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, and general ledger activities; including preparation and review of journal entries. In this position I also manage all financial accounting aspects for a newly created subsidiary, representing 5% of company’s total revenue. Supervising and leading an Accounting team of 8, I report directly to the company’s President. Company revenue has increased 80% during my tenure. Served as vital financial stakeholder leading to the the full divestiture of entire company to an international private company; delivered supporting financial documentation and assisted with due diligence. I was responsible for the training & development of direct reports and continually motivated accounting team during period of uncertainty related to divestment of the company. I also led recruiting efforts related to key accounting staff roles.Also managed all Human Resources and Benefits responsibilities, including weekly payroll submission, monthly journal entries, 401K and profit sharing duties with contacts with 3rd party administrators.

In this position I delivered internal and external financial reporting of Marriott’s foreign subsidiaries within the Netherlands. Managed processes and procedures for developing foreign subsidiary financial statements and supporting schedules as required for all local reporting requirements. I also represented the company as the point of contact for key stakeholders related to entity accounting issues for Dutch legal entities.

During my time at AOL, I served as an Accounting Advisor working in different roles within the advertising revenue group that included supervisory experience. Specifically, as the Advertising Revenue GL Manager, I was responsible for month-end closing activities including posting of journal entries and review of Balance Sheet reconciliations. I created variance explanations on the internal close package that required working between multiple departments within the organization including financial reporting, accounting policy, finance, and regional offices. I also assisted in preparing and reviewing supporting schedules for internal and external audits as well as a re-audit relating to the separation of AOL’s line of business.As Advertising Revenue Manager, I was part of a team responsible for the review of non-standard advertising revenue recognition and invoicing on a monthly basis. I created accounting treatments for advertising agreements describing rationale for revenue recognition.

I supported both Lafarge North America and the subsidiary, Lafarge Canada. Accounting deliverables included research for accounting policy needs, preparation and delivery of monthly Flash reporting to management, and assisting with footnote preparation of Lafarge North America’s 10-K. I also collaborated with multiple internal departments including Tax, Overseas Group Reporting, product line analysts and regional offices. I had dotted line management responsibilities of three Consolidation Accountants, a role from which I was promoted. In support of Lafarge Canada, I was responsible for the preparation of audited financial statements including the accumulation of all footnote support. I also developed internal quarterly financial statements and served as the main point of contact with external auditors.

As an auditor at Ernst & Young, this role provided the essential groundwork needed in the accounting industry. My clients ranged across multiple industries including manufacturing, telecommunications, real estate, hospitality, services and technology and varied from large public companies to smaller closely held start-ups. This experience provided me with an understanding of the intricate facets across various organizations. I prepared financial statements, following generally accepted accounting principles, including footnote disclosures. I also trained and supervised audit staff, while performing engagement coordination and planning.
