It all started with a conversation, a chat with an old friend and colleague from the marine industry. Back in 2010, he shared tales of a special product seen in high-end yachts. I was intrigued, captivated by its sheer coolness. My journey of research then began, driven to uncover the source of this extraordinary innovation. At the time, Polytron was a one-person operation. I was working alone, manufacturing and installing glass, teaching myself the ropes of commercial glazing. Eventually, I came across supplier Polytronix, an innovator with over 40 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, and marketing liquid crystal displays in Texas—the very pioneers of the switchable glass product we’re renowned for today. The original and the best!I realised that to have any chance of succeeding, I needed to be surrounded by the best and in turn work closely with the pioneers at Polytronix to learn from the best in the industry. And, our friendship remains strong to this day. As Polytron expanded, we transitioned from importing pre-fabricated panels to sourcing our own film and utilised a friend’s lamination facility. I was manufacturing these panels myself and traveling the world to source the best equipment for our local Gold Coast facility. It was a challenging journey, yet it’s one that I'm most proud of.Today, we are a close-knit, highly skilled team of craftsmen, consistently delivering stunning award winning projects. Polytron is a leading provider of bespoke commercial and residential glass solutions, offering holistic end-to-end services from design and engineering to construction and installation.
