Responsible for the operation, maintenance and management of the Core network systems located in the Isle of Man working alongside other Core Engineering Teams in Guernsey and Jersey.Undertake day to day responsibility for the running of the POPs in the Isle of Man, as well as one in Blackpool, and supporting those in London. This includes liaison with Landlords for general matters such as site access, permits to work, reporting building faults etc.Provide customer support for faults with on-island circuits. This includes performing network testing and fault finding tasks, reporting to OLOs where necessary and ensuring that calls are followed up and closed once resolved and the customer is satisfied with the result.Ensure that spare parts for equipment are maintained and available. On callout for faults at any location which needs work undertaking immediately or reporting and progressing faults with third parties through our 24/7 Network Operation Centre.Support the Mobile Engineering Team where needed. This includes commissioning new equipment and sites, rigging masts and helping with their faults. Provide IP knowledge and training to them to assist in their role. Responsible for IP equipment used for transmission to the mobile sites around the island.Provide support to IOM Sales staff in designing solutions for customers alongside the Product Team and Network Consultants along with supporting services once installed.

Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining a wide selection of IT provisions for a number of local and UK/Global owned companies. Took the lead role in a variety of large installation and upgrade projects and managed, supervised and motivated other engineers along with having the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and ensuring that deadlines were met as well as performing a client relationship management role. Provided detailed documentation and network diagrams, as well as supporting non-technical staff to perform a variety of tasks in person or over the phone.Expert knowledge of all Windows operating systems, messaging, database platforms and Office. Networking experience included a variety of networking and security devices – primarily Cisco but also Sonicwall, Watchguard and CheckPoint firewalls along with Cisco, HP and NetGear switches and routers; LAN/WAN network and internet routing protocols and systems (IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN’s, VPN’s etc); Wireless networks, both internal and external point to point/multipoint systems and a good knowledge of analogue, ISDN2/30, Private and Ethernet circuits including MPLS in addition to conventional and VOIP phone systems.Hardware and Infrastructure experience included Server room planning including Air Conditioning and Redundant Power considerations; rack cabinet planning, building and loading; and an excellent understanding of structured cabling systems (CAT5/6/Fibre) for both voice and data solutions.
