Senior Commissioning Editor for the Politics and International Relations textbook list at Macmillan.My role involved identifying, commissioning, developing and publishing brand new textbooks, new editions and learning resources for undergraduate and postgraduate students.This also included monitoring sales performance and stock levels of published titles and working collaboratively with editorial, development, marketing and sales to ensure timely publication and a profitable list. As part of this, I presented our frontlist of books to sales representatives at twice yearly sales conferences, and offer support throughout the year.I also developed an international network of authors and reviewers, with regular travel to attend subject conferences and visit universities worldwide.I also managed an Editorial Assistant to work on the list; and always sought opportunities for their development.The higher education books that were under my responsibility included those in International Relations, Global Political Economy, European Union Politics, Security, Terrorism, Development, Foreign Policy, Global Governance, Migration and many more! I produced four high-quality monthly journals, Nature Reviews Endocrinology, Nature Reviews Rheumatology, Nature Reviews Neuroscience and Nature Reviews Drug Discovery. This involved taking articles from Acceptance to Print and Web publication, including typesetting and layout, styling and proofreading text as well as selecting, drawing and editing images/figures in PhotoShop and Illustrator, creating monthly issues, front covers, and maintaining strong relationships with editorial, web and print production. I took on additional responsibilities, such as my involvement in department-wide projects to design InDesign templates for new article types, creating and updating publication schedules, improving article workflows and independently identifying and completing a variety of department development projects. Latterly, my role expanded to include the redesign of two supplements, BioPharma Dealmakers and MedTech Dealmakers.

Fast promotion from Assistant through to Senior Production Editor, proactively managed a list of 12 journals, including six high-priority, newly-acquisitioned titles, comprising in total 80 issues and 2800 articles per year. Full responsibility for quality, budget, page redesigns, stylesheet creation and external supplier selection and management. My role was expanded with department-wide projects including online author proofing, typesetter and copyeditor transitions, the outsourcing of production work and creation of best-practice documentation.
