While on staff at Crooked Creek Ranch, I had the opportunity to work as one of three "Ridgerunners" during the summer leading up to my sophomore year at Auburn. As a Ridgerunner, we were responsible for keeping the off-road "Ridgerunner" vehicles mechanically operational and in proper working order. My work day started at 4:45 am and ended at 5:15 pm, however, most days we would continue to work as needed around camp until midnight. I gained substantial mechanical knowledge as well as experienced incredible growth in my spiritual life.Technical Responsibilities of the role included:-Being responsible for the twice-daily maintenance and servicing of 9 "ridge runner" dune buggies.-Being responsible for the operation of hourly ridge runner races 6 days a week.-Communication with dozens of potential YoungLife donors, hundreds of Young Life leaders, and thousands of campers from all across the country.-Flexibility to fill other roles around camp once ridge runner duties were completed for the day.
